Equipping for Baptismal Vocation in Daily Life – Session 3: What Is Vocation?

In this third session of the CaSTLE Project webinar series, Craig Nessan of Wartburg Theological Seminary explores vocation as a baptismal calling lived out in the ordinary, concrete realities of daily life. Drawing on Lutheran theology and rural lived experience, the session reframes vocation beyond occupation or church roles, emphasizing how God calls people to serve and be served through everyday relationships, work, and community across the stages of life. Through theological reflection, storytelling, and shared questions, participants are invited to consider how baptism shapes identity, grounds purpose, and sends us into the world to care for neighbors in tangible ways. The session concludes with reflection prompts that encourage participants to notice both how others have served them and how they, in turn, live out their baptismal vocation in daily life.
